Are we aware of the Digital Divide? And of its effects?

After the new situation that COVID-19 has implanted worldwide, the inequalities caused by the digital divide have stood out again.

Technological discrimination is a form of poverty and social exclusion, depriving some citizens of essential resources for development and wealth generation. We have seen this a lot during the COVID-19 pandemic, as many students and workers found it difficult to work from home and follow classes online.

Among the main effects of the digital divide below:

  • Lack of communication and isolation

  • Barrier to studies and knowledge

  • Accentuates social differences

  • Gender discrimination

People in remote areas who do not have access to the Internet are disconnected but those who have access without the proper skills are doomed to fail.

If you want to contribute to improving this situation, stay tuned!
